A 1960's tulip armchair, attributed to Eero Saarinen for Knoll. Unfortunately there is no label as is common with early examples, but this is a very old and high quality chair which we are sure is an original Knoll piece. It came from a property near Edinburgh with other original high quality pieces of 1950's/1960's furniture. The base is made from heavy cast aluminium, and the seat moulded fibreglass witin a plastic resin outer.
We have completely reupholstered the chair from scratch using only the highest quality materials, and finished it in a lovely orange/red wool from Kvadrat's Hallingdal range. It was difficult to capture the true colour of the fabric, which is more orange in appearance than appears in the photos. A fabric sample can be provided upon request. We have taken numerous photos of the chair prior to and during the restoration process to evidence the work undertaken, and will provide these with pleasure upon completion of the sale.
The aluminium base and resin outer shell are in fantastic condition for their age as can be seen in the photos.
As with all our re-upholstered items, the chair now complies with the UK Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations.
