A stunning sofa / day bed produced in the 1960's by British company Toothill. We are unable to find a single other example of this design so would have struggled to identify it, but fortunately we purchased the sofa from the original owner who still had the brochure from the 1960's. The brochure is now in our possession too.
A great feature of the design are two built in sidetables either side of the seat cushion which slide in and out depending on how you wish to use them. They can be slid out to create more seating space, or for using the sofa in it's bed function. The backrest also folds over to utilise the sofa as a bed, leaving the full width of the seat cushion free for sleeping.
The framework is constructed from solid afromosia which is in outstanding condition. It is almost without a blemish and has really stunning grains.
New pirelli webbing and protective straps have been fitted as per the original design.
A new foam seat cushion of the highest quality, as well as the back of the frame and arms have been fully re-upholstered in a contemporary grey wool with textured flecks from Bute's new Alchemy collection.
A sample of the fabric can be provided upon request.
As with all our upholstered items, the sofa now complies with the UK Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations.
