A spectacular sofa bed produced in the 1960's by British company Toothill.
It's not difficult to see why this is an incredibly sought after design, it really is quite exceptional.
A great feature are two built in sidetables supported by copper fixtures either side of the seat cushion which fold in and out depending on how you wish to use them. They can be folded out to create more seating space, or for using the sofa in it's bed function.
The backrest also folds over to utilise the sofa as a bed, leaving the full width of the seat cushion free for sleeping.
The framework is constructed from beautiful afromosia which has amazing grains and is in amazing condition. There are a few extremely minor marks on very close inspection as one would expect on a piece of furniture of this age, but certainly nothing that in any way detracts from the overall beauty of the item.
We have carefully cleaned, nourished, oiled, waxed and polished the wood ensuring it retains its natural beauty, but to give it a lovely glow once again.
All copper parts have been carefully cleaned and although there is some slight tarnishing/discoloration, continue to look sensational.
New pirelli webbing has been fitted throughout.
New foam cushions of the highest quality and the back of the frame have been fully re-upholstered in a luscious green wool from Bute's Elgin collection. We think the colour matches the wood and copper superbly, but is also delightful to touch. A sample of the fabric can be provided upon request.
